SEND
At Egremont, we support all children with any special or additional educational needs. We set the highest standards for their progress and nurture, so that each child can reach their full potential.
As part of our provision at Egremont, we have three nurture classrooms which support children who have had difficulty accessing mainstream education in alternative settings. These children have largely struggled in terms of their social and emotional needs, which we can offer greater support for. The children in these classrooms access the full curriculum in their year group, and join their peers during Reading, Writing, Maths, and independent play sessions. During the afternoons, a greater emphasis is placed on nurture and addressing the additional needs of each individual, whilst at the same time ensuring the children access the wider national curriculum so that they have chance to flourish in subjects such as science, art, music, computing humanities and PE. The three nurture classrooms are:
Year 1/2 Nurture
Year 3/4 Nurture
Year 5/6 Nurture
Our SENCo, Miss Gemma Hoey, supports both the nurture classes and other learners within our school who have special educational needs. She holds a NASENCO qualification, and has received further training on therapeutic practices such as Rhythmic Movement Training. Further information about this practice can be found below. Miss Hoey is also a qualified Blue Skies Therapist.

We realise that the world of SEND can be full of confusing jargon and acronyms. We have created support guides for different conditions which we hope will help to give a brief overview of definitions and advice for parents/carers. Furthermore, we have included links to useful local support services, in addition to a comprehensive guide to educational health care plans.
